Montebello Community Adult School is WASC-accredited. It offers both a teacher-directed and independent studies program, which allows students to earn a high school diploma with a standards-based curriculum. The program ensures that graduates acquire the critical and academic skills necessary to continue their education and provides students with many more opportunities to achieve success.
New students will need to email a counselor to register for MCAS High School Diploma Program. Please email one of the counselors at the preferred school that you would like to attend. They will assist you in the enrollment process.

What is HiSET?
The HiSET is an exam that measures high school equivalency skills.
What is a High School Equivalency Credential?
A High School Equivalency Credential is issued by your state or jurisdiction to testers who have passed the HiSET exam.
Where is a High School Equivalency Credential Accepted?
The High School Equivalency Credential is accepted everywhere.
Who can take the HiSET Exam?
Adults 18 years and over without a high school diploma can take the HiSET exam.
Bell Gardens Community Adult School and Montebello Community Adult School are official HiSET Testing Centers. There is a $75 fee for taking the HiSET exam that includes two free retakes. This fee includes the $20 State Fee and Equivalency Certificate.

HiSET Exam at Home
To meet the needs of test takers who can't test at a test center because of public health concerns, ETS is offering the HiSET® exam at home option. With the at home option, you can take any of the five subtests that make up the HiSET exam on your own computer at home or in another secure location.
Each subtest delivered at home has the same content, format and on-screen experience as the test you would take at a test center. Your at home appointment will be monitored by a human proctor online through ProctorU®.
